Social Media Footprint
I see we have a new buzz word floating around these days:
Social Media Footprint
Actually I suppose that’s a buzz phrase since it uses three words – but that’s just a technicality. You get the drift – we have a new word people are using – and it sounds cool. New words and phrases always sound kinda cool when they first appear. Some of them stick – some of them fade away after a few weeks or months. I’m betting that this little phrase gains popularity and becomes part of our everyday language.
So what is it? What is a “Social Media Footprint”?
I really don’t know – and I’m in this business. It’s sorta like “Web 2.0″ – it means whatever you want it to mean at any given time. You make the call. You decide. Have you noticed we have quite a few words like this now? “Digital Footprint” is another term you will hear these days. I kinda like that one.
Here is my personal definition of this new buzz phrase:
Social Media Footprint: “Traces left by your activity on social networks.” How many FaceBook friends do I have? How many people follow me on Twitter? Do I get re-tweeted a lot? Have I actually gained a new customer from MySpace? Do I get comments about my Linked-In Account? You get the picture…
So now we all have an “Eco Footprint” AND a “Social Media Footprint”. Isn’t that special?
