Managing Information
Are we hammered with information – or what?
I get emails. I get FaceBook messages. I get MYSPACE messages. I get Tweets from Twitter. I get snail mail. I get business cards. I find websites to visit. I have phone calls. I have voicemail. I have text messages. We have co-workers. We have customers. We have family. We have friends. We have vendors. Holy crap…the information comes at us at lightening speed!
What to do with it all? How do we handle it?
Here is a list of some software that might be able to help – depending on how you work and what you are comfortable with:
*Palm Desktop. Generally only useful if you own a Palm PDA or Phone. Works great.
*Outlook. Everyone has probably used Microsoft Outlook before – great program.
*ECCO. Old but fabulous. Possibly the best piece of software ever written.
*InfoSelect. Best information management tool – bar none.
Others include: Essential PIM, Agendus, and TreePad. One of the best systems out there for learning how to manage information is “Getting Things Done” by David Allen.
Managing information well is essential these days – those who fail to do so will pay a heavy price.
