Snow

Gainesville SquareI’ve been predicting snow all winter and it finally comes on March 1.  Better late than never.

Man – we just missed the big one.  Here in Oakwood it looks like maybe a couple of inches, possibly a little more depending on where you are looking.  We drove out to Elachee Nature Center Sunday afternoon; It was snowing so hard we couldn’t hardly see the road – got some great pictures out there.

If the ground had not been wet from rain, that low would have tracked a little more north, and if the surface temps would have been a litte colder a few days prior, we would have hammered in about 10 inches…huge snowstorm by our standards.  Although I will say that there were times today where I saw it snowing as hard or harder than I’ve ever seen it snow before – anywhere.  I can remember being on a chairlift at the Purgatory Ski Resort in Colorado once – it was snowing pretty dang hard.  I can remember skiing at Mount Rose in Nevada once – HUGE flakes, snowing like crazy, and I can remember many, many times being out in the Jackson Hole area where it was virtually white-out conditions —- but —- what I saw today just about equaled those experiences.  The big difference being that it did it for about 45 minutes here…and it does it for days out there…2 inches versus 2 feet.

Anyway…it was great.  Lots of chili and snow.  Can’t beat that.
