There are alot of things to consider when we transfer power peacefully here in the United States but nothing as interesting and compelling as the handoff of “the football”.  “The Football” is a titanium briefcase that contains the top secret launch codes to our nuclear arsenal.  President Obama will have them at about noon tomorrow and we really don’t know how he gets it – the process is classified.

Will he change the name of it to “the basketball”?  I would.

You know, I was amazed to find out that it takes a team of 60 professionals to move Bush out and move Obama in…it takes them just under 6 hours.  Hell it took Terri and I 6 days to move into our first duplex.  geez.  I wonder who this moving company is?

Another little piece of trivia that does not surprise me:  President Carter liked to keep the launch codes in his shirt pocket.  He accidentally left them in the shirt once – the Secret Service had to retrieve the launch codes to the most powerful arsenal in the World from a dry cleaners…geez.  I had to read that twice.  I had to Google that one several times.

When you throw a peanut farmer into the White House – that’s about what you should expect.  Oh well, Ronald Reagan kept the launch codes in his wallet…what else would you expect from an actor?
