Well, here's one I definitely agree with you about. Pro sports is so packaged, marketed, "spun" that it's not sports any more, it's all about image. Give me a few minutes and I'll probably be able to give you t he starting line up for both the Milwaukee Braves and Chicago Cubs from 1956, but neither one had a steady line up you could get excited about last year. Try this one for size - This year the Braves ought to do whatever they can in April and May to make young Mr. Franceour look really good, then trade him for an outfielder and pitcher. This is the mistake the Braves made two years ago with Andruw Jones. You could see them declining with increasing ego. Get rid of them and get something worthwhile for them. The Braves also reinforced the reason why young players shouldn't "give 110%" when they let $3mm send John Smoltz, the face of the Braves, to Boston. Plus, now Andruw Jones wants back in comfort zone of Atlanta. Good Grief!! Declare 2009 and 2010 development years, bring up the minor league guys who are a year or so away, let them develop and get back in the hunt in 2010 and 2011. Let Bobby Cox retire, bring in someone who will establish some discipline and keep the egos in check and make the game fun for the fans and the players. And that's MY rant!!

ps: NASCAR has turned into a 200mph parade, golf and tennis are fashion shows, hockey and soccer have a niche following that won't grow beyond what it now is and if we don't keep an eye on it, college and high school sports will boost athlete's egos and pampering to the point of pro athletes. And that's wrong.
