Incumbents
Let me preface this by saying I’ve not looked at results across the area - nor have I looked at State or national results (yesterday’s elections). I’m spewing this from seeing a couple of headlines scattered around the media…so take it with a grain of salt.
It appears we have once again elected incumbents at close to the 95% rate that we always elect incumbents. I’m sure there were a couple of upsets out there - maybe one or two got tossed out of office - but for the most part we did what we’ve been doing for decades…re-electing the same people.
This is mind blowing. This is beyond comprehension.
Here it is…2008…we have access to everything you could ever want to know about a candidate - a couple of mouse clicks and you can literally be an expert on candidate x.
Forget liberal / conservative. Forget democrat / republican. Why don’t we use the information available to hold these people accountable? They are not accountable to anyone - they know full well that they WILL BE re-elected. It has nothing to do with money. It has nothing to do with how they run their campaign. It has everything to do with apathetic and uninformed voters.
The uninformed voter is the most dangerous enemy America faces - not Barack Obama…not John McCain…not the democrats…not the republicans…not terrorist organizations…not the oil companies…
My rant for the day.
