Northeast Georgia and Gainesville GROWING

CensusNew estimates from the US Census shows northeast Georgia and the Gainesville areas growing at a pretty good pace – a very good pace compared to other areas of Georgia.

Why?

I have a few ideas.

First off – just look at what this area has to offer economically. We’re usually the last area of the country that sees any economic downturns and our situation never seems to get as bad as the rest of the country. We’re diversified – tourism, manufacturing, information technology, medicine and science — we’re the “silicon valley” of the Southeast.

Next on my list is the geography. We’re as close as we need to be to Atlanta – we can scoot down to the airport in no time but at the same time we’re FAR away. We’re close to Greenville, Charlotte, Nashville, Knoxville, The Smokey Mountains, Asheville, and we’re not THAT far from hitting the beach.

Recreation. What do you want to do? You can do it here. Hiking the most famous trail in the world, camping at some of the most beautiful campgrounds in the country, boating – skiing – fishing on some of the most fabulous lakes in north America, shopping, teeing up at a fantastic golf course, tasting wine at one of our many wineries, unlimited professional sports at our fingertips, tubing down a lazy river, partying until dawn at one of the lively nightspots in the region, and dining at either a hole in the wall hidden treasure or a five star restaurant rivaling those found in New York.

All this…and much more…and our cost of living is paltry compared to other areas in the country.

I love northeast Georgia – no wonder we’re getting so many folks moving this way.
