Lake Lanier dangers
Despite numerous articles, video in the media, and desperate attempts to inform the public, we have had four drowings on Lake Lanier this holiday weekend.
Virtually every organization in the area has issued warnings regarding the dangers of a shallow lake. Lake Lanier was at her lowest in history for the July 4 weekend - I applaud the efforts of the Corps of Engineers, Hall County authorities, and other local agencies to get the word out.
Terrible accidents will always happen - we can’t eliminate all risk. I just wish people would prepare a little better, plan a little better, and take reasonable precautions - whether it’s on the water or on the road.
