Another RoadTrip

BlairsvilleI love roadtrips. I love roadtrips even if I’m working. Last Friday I needed to drive up to Blairsville - to see some customers and to visit with a few potential customers. My lovely wife wasn’t able to go so I was on my own.

I left from Oakwood and headed up I-985. I took the last Gainesville exit and made my way over to Hwy 129 headed towards Cleveland - be careful leaving Gainesville - there is a State Patrol headquarters right on Hwy 129 and you can bet you’ll meet a trooper - keep the speeds down.

Coming into Cleveland I saw that there is a new BBQ Restaurant in town - Rib Country. We have eaten at the one in Blairsville — and we liked it. I’m sure we’ll be visiting Cleveland soon for some babyback ribs…

I made my way up 129 past Turners Corner and up to the top of Blood Mountain. This was my first stop. I met with George Case, the owner of Blood Mountain Cabins — great guy. He knows everything about the mountains and the entire area between Cleveland and Blairsville. If you ever get the chance you definitely want to stop and check out the country store. The cabins are located in one of the most beautiful settings in northeast Georgia — I would recommend a weekend getaway here.

Next we’re on up to Blairsville - time for some lunch. One of my favorite stops is the KFC in Blairsville. We don’t have any of the buffet’s down this way so I always take advantage of the opportunity…I know…it isn’t gormet food…I just like those KFC buffet setups.

Four plates later and I’m headed out again.

My next stop - Nottely Lake Marina. I met the owner - Carleen Douchette. Carleen is a great lady - had a fabulous visit. This is a cool little place.

My last stop was with Pat Gray over at Carriage House Framing Gallery - right in town - Blairsville. This is a first class operation. Anything and everything art. From supplies to lessons to portraits, this place pretty much has it all.

Blairsville is a gorgeous mountain town hidden away up in Union County. Visit Blairsville. Stop by and see some of our buddies.
