Mothers Day

Mothers DayMothers Day has been around here in the USA since the early 1900’s…we’ve been celebrating mom for generations. I spent almost the entire weekend with my mom - we had good food, spent time with lots of family members, and just had a good time.

Heck - we do that almost every weekend.

I’m having second thoughts about the fact that we have to be told by someone when to celebrate our mom and dad - a certain day of the year. I celebrate my Mom and Dad 365 days a year - we talk almost daily, we visit each other several times each week - most weeks, and we travel together whenever possible.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating eliminating Mothers Day and Fathers Day, I’m just pointing out the fact that we can have those days on any of the other 364 days during the year.

Spend more time with your parents. Spend more time with your kids. There are many folks out there who don’t have that luxury anymore. My wife is still young and she doesn’t have either of her parents around to spend time with. If you have parents / family to spend time with - do it. Don’t procrastinate. If you don’t - maybe you should point that out to those of us who are fortunate enough to have parents / family around to hang out with.

…another day. Another rant.

  1. That is so sweet! I am fortunate to have children (I count my daughters-in-law as mine), grandchildren and great grandchildren that I see almost every week. We have spent some great times together, and the older I get the more I appreciate the effort they all make to spend their time with us. We were living in Wyoming for 10 years; came back in 2001 and I think we cherish our days together more now.
Thank you Dennis, my first born son, for a great Mother’s Day sentiment. I love you and am so proud of you.
    Your mom
