Oil confusion…

OilI’m wondering why we have this oil price problem when the vast majority of our imports come from “friendly” countries? Maybe I’m missing something. We import the most oil from our neighbor to the north - Canada. Canada isn’t a member of OPEC. Canada is supposed to be our buddy - right? Well…next on the list is Saudi Arabia. President Bush even planted a juicy kiss on those guys…surely they are a buddy too? We’ve covered their butts more than once. Third on our list of countries that we import oil from —- none other than Mexico. Another “friendly” neighbor. Maybe we could trade illegals for some lower prices?

The point I’m making…before we get down to any hostile countries…we have to look at where most of our oil comes from. It surprised me. We really don’t get that much oil from “hostile” countries such as Venezuela, Iraq, or even Russia. Our oil comes from “friends”.

Whassup? We don’t need friends like Canada and Mexico…we need friends like Exxon, Amoco, Gulf, and other US oil companies. We need to be drilling in ANWR and in other areas off the coasts. I’ve never personally met anyone against drilling in ANWR; I’d love to meet that person. I’d love to hear their logic…or lack thereof.

In the meantime…let’s set a goal for $5.00 gal gas by Labor Day. We can do it. I know we can.
