Professional sports…
Is it just me or has pro sports lost it’s appeal?
I used to be…not a fan…a fanatic. Braves…Hawks…Falcons…NASCAR…PGA…I lived and breathed this stuff. Now I couldn’t tell you a player in the starting lineup for the Braves…I have no idea who even coaches the Hawks…I probably still keep up with the Falcons more than I want to…NASCAR has even become boring to me, and the PGA needs something to spice things up - Tiger has gotten a little old.
Is it age? Hell, I’m not that old.
My alternatives —- I’d much rather pay a few bucks and watch a good high school football game on Friday night, or maybe drive over to Lanier Speedway and watch the Late Model boys go at it for 100 laps, knowing those guys probably have to get up Monday morning and go to work.
I think that with age comes more reasonable thought and moderation. Maybe the sports are doing just fine but the maturing spectator actually has a life and just doesn’t get caught up in all of the fanaticism anymore.
My rant for the day.
