I love technology. I have this cool little smartphone - a Palm Treo 680 - we go everywhere together. Sure…it’s a big clunker…but using the bluetooth features makes it more than manageable. I can carry with me…appointments, contacts, memos, notes, todo lists, pictures, music…pretty much everything except the kitchen sink.

Well…let me rephrase that second sentence…I HAD this cool little smartphone…until I dropped it and smashed the screen yesterday. Yep, I killed my little buddy. Of course AT&T won’t let you insure a PDA / Smartphone…oh no…we couldn’t have that…so I’m faced with the prospect of forking out about $350 to replace it. ARGH!

Problem is…I’ve become spoiled to all of the cool features. I bought a “regular” phone yesterday at WalMart for $20, inserted my SIM card…so at least I have a phone to use, but I’m rapidly getting irritated at not having all of my information at my fingertips while I’m out and about - on the road.

I thought about asking my wife if I could borrow $350. I thought again. Naaa. I thought about buying one on e-Bay but it turns out we know someone who bought a cellphone on e-Bay and couldn’t use it…it was in Chinese.
