Rev. Jeremiah Wright

Well…I watched it. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This guy…Rev. Jeremiah Wright…seemed to set race relations back half a century with his speech Sunday night at an NAACP dinner in Detroit. I mean…he had to know the whole country was watching. He had to know CNN, FOX, and many of the other news organizations were carrying the speech live.

The message of the speech was supposed to be that just because someone is different doesn’t mean they are inferior. Who wouldn’t agree with that? A quiet, white preacher is different from a hell and brimstone black preacher…sure…but that doesn’t make one superior to the other…it makes them different.  Just because someone listens to Toby Keith and someone else listens to Snoop Dogg…doesn’t make one inferior or superior to the other…just different.

If only he had just stopped at that.

He didn’t. He went on and on and on…and the message I came away with was that you can use race as an excuse for about anything. You can use the fact that you are “different” to justify about anything. If little Johnny is getting straight A’s at school and little Sally is getting F’s…it’s not because little Sally didn’t study…it’s because she’s “different”. C’mon, there was nothing wrong with what Michael Vick did; he is from another culture, he’s just “different”.

Wow. I can see the classrooms tomorrow…I can also imagine the strategy meetings at the Obama campaign!

  1. this guy is a complete idiot. i think obama has had his entire political career ruined by this guy. it almost seems intentional.

  2. He isn’t a “complete idiot”. He’s building a multi-million dollar home with over 10,000 square feet and drives $75,000 worth of Mercedes automobiles.

    Now…the congregation…?
